Lyss Tan is a Malaysian-born, New York–based visual artist whose work centers on quiet, emotionally resonant moments drawn from everyday life. Living between cultures has shaped her sensitivity to memory, distance, and belonging — themes that subtly weave through her imagery.
Working across watercolor, acrylic, and digital illustration, Lyss creates story-rich scenes inspired by people, street life, and intimate domestic moments — a dog watching the seasons change, light shifting through a window, a fleeting exchange between strangers. Her practice blends observation with imagination, capturing pauses that often go unnoticed yet linger long after.
Alongside her studio practice, Lyss collaborates with lifestyle and fashion brands to create illustrated storytelling experiences and live drawing sessions, transforming personal moments into meaningful keepsakes.
Through expressive lines and a gentle palette, her work invites viewers to slow down and rediscover the quiet magic of the ordinary.

The Origin of Dear Nostalgia Project
After nearly 30 years of receiving hand-written postcards from our grandmother every month, we realized a tradition that we needed to pay forward. We're working with local artists each month to create new, exclusive designs and a unique experience of discovery for our writer community. We're also including an extra stamp with each card to spread gratitude in our own way. We're aiming to nourish human connection and sustain personal touch. For the price of a coffee each month, you can provide something technology cannot match.
