'No. 011 - Wish You Were Here' by Sally Lee
The table we gather around may look simple, but what it represents is anything but. It’s not just the meals, the games, the traditions, or the holidays that shape these incredible moments. It’s the people who fill the seats around it that make it feel so full. Simple in the moment, yet these memories shape so much of who we are, who we love, and how we view relationships. A reminder that it’s the simple acts with the right people that make the biggest impact, not the material things or technology that aim to steal our attention from what matters most.

'No. 011 - Wish You Were Here'
Sally is a multidisciplinary artist born in the UK and raised in the United States. As a Chinese woman growing up between different cultures, she became familiar with the feeling of being both connected to and separate from the places she called home. Having moved frequently as a child, her experiences continue to shape the way she thinks about identity, belonging, and the environments she creates through her work.
Her practice brings together her Chinese, British, and American identities. Through personal memories, cultural references, and everyday objects, Sally explores what it means to be Chinese American beyond physical appearance. She is especially interested in the ways ideas and stereotypes about Eastern and Western cultures are passed down, repeated, and changed over time.
Sally’s work also looks at womanhood, domestic life, and the everyday rituals that bring people together. In this piece, the dining table often becomes a place to explore these connections—whether through making a meal with loved ones, playing games with family, or simply catching up with a friend over tea.

The Origin of Dear Nostalgia Project
After nearly 30 years of receiving hand-written postcards from our grandmother every month, we realized a tradition that we needed to pay forward. We're working with local artists each month to create new, exclusive designs and a unique experience of discovery for our writer community. We're also including an extra stamp with each card to spread gratitude in our own way. We're aiming to nourish human connection and sustain personal touch. For the price of a coffee each month, you can provide something technology cannot match.
Welcome to Dear Nostalgia Project.
