Ross Damman

Born and raised in a rural farm community in Ohio, Ross Damman is a Los Angeles based shoe designer and visual artist whose work is focused on connection and reverence to the natural world.  Growing up as an avid angler & birder, Ross was always seeking moments of magic in his natural surroundings.  Love and respect of these precious resources is what compels his artistic approach today.

Working in oil and digital illustration, Ross depicts these fleeting moments, with a rich approach to color, texture and light.  Ross’s scenes range from innocent sketches of his pup’s jovial gallop, serene landscapes often highlighted by a river, to epic vignettes of “once and a lifetime” brown trout caught on the fly.

Outside of his passion for the visual arts, Ross is also a bonsai enthusiast and gardener.  He uses the craft of Bonsai to connect the natural and composed worlds, finding joy and peace through the thoughtful creation of composition and the ritual of caretaking.  The stewardship to his trees and garden are symbolic of the way he approaches his engagement and responsibility to our natural world.
